TANJAR™ BABYDOLLS BUYERS INFORMATION GUIDEWELCOMEThank you for visiting our Buyers Information Page. Why buy from TANJAR™?TANJAR™ has been a registered ASSBA stud since 2010, offering a long‑established and reputable breeding program with a strong focus on type, welfare, and transparency. We appreciate your interest and hope this guide helps all Babydoll enthusiasts understand what to expect when purchasing these adorable little sheep. Whether you are seeking breeding pairs, coloured sheep, appendix ewes, or pet wethers, TANJAR™ aims to match you with the right animals for your goals. Due to high demand, not all enquiries can be fulfilled each season.
ABOUT BABYDOLL BREEDINGBabydolls are seasonal breeders, generally cycling from March through May or June. For new breeders, TANJAR™ can recommend pairs with unrelated pedigrees. Not all lambs will be available for pairing recommendations, but you are always welcome to choose any sheep that suits your own breeding program.
DEPOSIT TERMS OF SALEA deposit of $300 per lamb is required to hold your selected sheep. Payment is made by bank deposit, and a receipt will be sent via email, Messenger, or text once cleared. Deposits must be paid within two business days of the pending sale. Deposits are non‑refundable for change of mind. They are fully refundable if TANJAR™ cannot supply your lambs for transport. TANJAR™ reserves the right to withdraw a sheep from sale before final payment; in such cases, a full refund is provided.
LAMB MANAGEMENT & HEALTH PREPARATIONAll lambs are tagged with their year‑of‑birth NLIS tag, which includes a microchipped RFID component readable by scanners. Lambs receive their first UltraVac 5‑in‑1 vaccination. A second dose is given four to six weeks later if timing allows before transport. If the booster is due after transport, the buyer is responsible for administering it. Tails are removed using vet‑recommended methods, either ring or hot tail, with pain relief administered. Tails usually fall off before transport but occasionally may still be in the process. Lambs are wormed with Q‑Drench, Tridectin, or Closantal depending on seasonal needs. Western Australia has Barber’s Pole worm, and because wormers are not 100% effective, TANJAR™ recommends quarantining and re‑worming lambs on arrival. Lice treatment is applied using Extinosad or Spurt at the time of the ewe’s shearing in mid‑September. Depending on the season, lambs may also receive ClikZin for blowfly protection. Wethers are castrated using the ring method with pain relief administered. Testicles usually fall off before transport; if not, the dried sac may still be attached.
PIC NUMBERSUnder Department of Agriculture rules, all buyers must have a current PIC number. TANJAR™ cannot sell sheep without one. Links to apply for a PIC number are provided at the bottom of the page. It is recommended to apply several weeks before pickup.
DOCUMENTATION PROVIDED.A National Vendor Declaration (Weigh Bill) will be provided to the transport driver or the person collecting your sheep. If using a transport company, please request your copy upon delivery.
FINAL PAYMENT & TRANSPORTFor transported sheep, full payment is due seven days before transport. Payment must clear before sheep are loaded. If payment is not received in full, the animals will be held back and the deposit forfeited. For on‑farm pickups, sheep must be paid for in full before leaving the property. Please allow time for bank transfers to clear before the arranged pickup day.
DISCLAIMERA disclaimer is included on your receipt. Please read it carefully. No guarantee is given regarding eventual adult size, height, weight, conformation, fertility, or wool coverage. Once sheep leave TANJAR™, whether via transport or on‑farm pickup, they become the responsibility of the new owner. All future care, treatments, and transport costs are the buyer’s responsibility. This applies to all sheep sold, with or without papers, including wethers. Full deposit terms are available on the TANJAR™ website.
WHEN YOUR SHEEP ARRIVE HOMETANJAR™ recommends placing sheep into a quarantine paddock for up to one month. This allows them to adjust after transport and helps prevent parasite transfer. Re‑worming within one week of arrival is recommended. Sheep will need time to adjust to your water, pasture, and feeding program. TANJAR™ Feeding ProgramWe feed steam‑cut oaten chaff mix, Kettridges Lamb Fattening Pellets, and provide ad‑lib hay.
